Meet Joseph Kirega: Our Ingenious Senior Software Engineer

Joseph Kirega joined the Mesozi team in mid-2017 as an intern in the engineering department, and soon after took up the role of software engineer. He has worked on a number of core consulting projects under the Mesozi Labs business unit. He has been very instrumental in delivering Odoo ERP solutions to our clients and recently joined the MarketForce 360 team full-time as a Senior Software Engineer.
Professionally
Kirega graduated from the School of Computing and Informatics, University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science. Having joined Mesozi as a part time full stack engineer in 2017, he worked on our earlier versions of our flagship product Marketforce. Prior to Mesozi, Kirega also worked in various capacities; including Andela as a full stack engineer and Tulaa, an agro finance institution, as a frontend engineer. Besides technical experience, he has been natured in project management having seen to completion a lot of our software projects.
Outside Work
He is an avid chess player where he has excelled and gone pro. He has won a number of local and national chess tournaments. His most memorable win is when he was crowned as Kenya National Youth Chess Champion U18 category. My aspiration is to become a titled chess player and put Kenya on the chess scene. When not playing chess, Joseph spends time with his family and training his dogs.
Why Mesozi?
Mesozi is an innovation driven company which leaves a lot of room to experiment and learn. Consequently, a lot of creativity and genius goes into making our solutions which are not only simple but world class. Working in this kind of environment as an engineer is not only fulfilling but motivating as there is always room for growth. Which is in line with my personal mantra, of continuous improvement and growth. In my time, seeing Mesozi stick to its RICH (Responsibility, Innovation, Collaboration and Happiness) values and grow over the years to its current level is a testament of good culture which I am happy to be a part of.
